Georgios Theocharidis

Independent Researcher

Hello and welcome!

My name is George, and I'm an independent researcher interested in how Machine Learning can help us better understand the brain! I have a BEng in Electronic Engineering, which was then followed by an MSc in Machine Learning. One thing led to the other and towards the end of my MSc I was fortunate enough to work with such amazing collaborators as Sotirios Bisdas from UCL and Antonios Saravanos from NYU. I invested a lot of time and effort in an attempt to learn how to conduct research. I want to use what I have been learning to make a real difference to people's health, and although we're making progress, there's still a long way to go!

This site is where I keep my projects, reading lists, notes and more.

Published work

Applying ensemble machine learning techniques to MRI scans to predict Alzheimer’s disease

Theocharidis, G., Bisdas, S., Pazarzis, J. et al. Scientific Reports 16, 28858 (2026). https://doi.org/10.1038/s41598-026-57402-8

An MRI-only framework for predicting future Alzheimer’s disease conversion in cognitively normal individuals, using an ensamble of differnet machine learning models.

Live demo

This is the model from our published paper: given an MRI scan of a healthy patient, it predicts the likelihood of developing Alzheimer’s disease in the future.
